Mural, street art, architecture and urban planning intertwined in the center of Sofia during the first week of July to demonstrate the need for creating a permanent place for street art and its potential to complement the park environment.

The temporary urban art installation FЮЖЕN - BITS was located in South Park 2 near the RCCA “Toplotsentrala” in the period 29.06.2026 – 06.07.2026. It represents a material continuation of the project work of the graduate students from the Department of Public Buildings, majoring in Architecture at UACEG. The project was developed according to an assignment created in partnership with Visionary, which explores the possibility of creating a permanent wall for free drawing in a central city park environment.

The work on the assignment is developed within three consecutive academic semesters. The current temporary implementation was carried out as part of the mandatory summer student internships at the Department of Public Buildings. The installation is completely detachable and executed as a spatial model – a collage that unites ideas from all 12 student teams that have worked on separate concepts on the topic so far.

From 30.06. to 05.07. the installation was painted live by the Bulgarian artists JahOne & Yeto, who turned it into their own artistic canvas and merged the architectural object with street art as a natural part of urban culture.

“FЮЖЕН is a name in itself a play on words and languages. It refers both to the place of implementation of the project – South Park, and to the English word Fusion (“fusion”, “synthesis”). The title is inspired by the interdisciplinary nature of the project and its aspiration to unite different artistic practices in a common spatial intervention. The fusion of local linguistic identity with an internationally recognizable term embodies the project's ambition to connect the local cultural context with broader European discussions on public space, civic participation, creativity and sustainable urban development." - shares Delyana Angelova, initiator of the idea.
